This Damned Body Is Carved Out Of Meat
Description of Work
The audience (around 15 people) sit in an arc around a bathtub, with a mirror hanging over it. The show was created and performed by myself and my real-life partner Naia Poyer, and we play ourselves. I am suicidal. They draw me a bath. We talk. They try to cheer me up. We try to have sex. The bathtub is slowly transformed into a forest pond. They cast a spell over me, and I am briefly cured and/or manic. It does not last.
We worked with a guitarist, Alec MacLaughlin. Each section of the play is scored by a different semi-improvisational loop-guitar piece. Outside the performance space is a garden with a campfire and two paintings on glass, made by Naia Poyer.
